I bought this to use as a carryon for a combination site seeing trip with day hiking to Machu Pic'chu. The trip isn't until May 2016 but these are my thoughts so far. It's well made, strong zippers, plenty of space and pockets with a mesh side pocket for a water bottle AND a covered hole in case you carry a water bag with a suck hose. Neatthat's it's made of coated polyester. It may not be waterproof as thee are several sewn through seams, but with some seam sealant who knows?My wife liked it so much I ordered one for her too.And it comes in several colors.RecommendedUpdate: 2017Despite not being used since our Machu Picchu trip the shoulder strap failed while in Mexico, pulled right off at the attachment point. Inspection reveals it was sewn with only one line of stitching.Also, after use I find the left side pocket zipper sees to be upside-down for my use. To open the pocket you must pull the zipper from bottom to top. The zipper should close from bottom to top and open from top to bottom. Very inconvenient.I'm downgrading this pack from 5 to 3 stars and OK for light day use.

I recently purchased this backpack for my oldest son to use for his day to day treks to school. It has plenty of storage options and allows him to carry all of his stuff that he needs for school. It also is perfect for him to use if he goes on an overnight trip whether it be camping or to a friends house.It has space for a laptop and several textbooks. In fact I kinda feel like the kitchen sink could be added to the backpack. He is very happy with his backpack. This was a good purchase for us.I will update this at a later point as to how well it holds up at school.

I found this backpack on (other) sites including Overstock.com. Amazon has the best price. I've ordered this backpack once before, when my son began his junior year in High School. He's 6'2 and pretty (rough) on backpacks. This is the 2nd one I'm ordering for finishing up his senior year... I like the backpack and he loves it. He's tall and it fits him perfectly, and there is (plenty) of space inside, room for (extras), and even a place for the water bottles he likes to carry with him to school.If you are thinking about purchasing this Everest Deluxe Backpack and the person who will be using it is hard on backpacks, it will probably need tobe replaced within a year. But for this price, it's SO worth it! If the person who will be using it is (easy) on their use of backpacks, then it should easily last 3 years. When you receive it, you won't be disappointed, that's for sure!

Several years ago, I purchased a Nikon D-90 camera package that included a nice and fairly expensive camera bag if purchased individually. As I've added lenses and other accessories, I needed to replace the bag in order to accomodate the extra equipment. When I priced camera bags, I found them outrageously expensive and not much more practical than the bag I already had.I then looked at backpacks and found this one at a fraction of the price of a dedicated camera bag. Though I had some misgivings, I ordered it and when it arrived, I found it to be perfect for its intended use as a camera pack. I added a 12 x 12 x 4 in. piece of closed cell foam into which I cut custom holes for my camera and lense, four additional lenses, batteries and charger, two flash attachments and a flashlight in the main compartment.The backpack itself offered excellent padding at the back and I added another piece of closed cell foam (12 x 12 x 1 1/2 in.) on top. I was especially pleased that I was able to include a cutout for my 650mm reflector telephoto lense which had always had to travel in a separate container if I traveled with it at all.With all of the major equipment included in the main compartment, I was then able to use the outside compartments for additional equipment such as camera manuals, a card wallet, electrical cables, batteries for remoted shotter release and flash attachments, lense wipes, USB cables, USB card reader and other "stuff." The exterior straps allowed the attacfhment of a small tripod on the outside of the bag.On a recent cruise of the Italian Amalfi coast and a land tour of Rome, I added a handheld GPS, a Kindle Fire, a guidebook, a walkie-talkie and still had room to dump all of my pocket change, keys, headphones, lighters, etc. to use as a carry-on for going through security.With it fully loaded, the bag weighed about 35 pounds but still was functional as a sling bag and was easy to get on and off as a backpack. It was completely comfortable and functional as a backpack/camera bag on a three-mile walking tour of Rome.This is a quality daypack and well worth the investment as a camera pack with the minimal modifications I made.

This is the second of these backpacks I have bought in the past 2 years...I am really rough on my pack, I live on the Or. Coast and do not have a car so my pack is used for Everything! The first held up beautiful, the only problem I had was the mesh bottle holder tore in the first month aside from that it held up better than expected!
