The Good:Made very well, and I can say something that I rarely get to say these days, this unit is well worth the money.The case is full aluminum body, the inserts look like 3d printed trays. Looks good, and even when fans are on high they do not generate much noise. It's actually quieter than my computer.I've only used it in its default mode (all 3 switches down) which is no mirror, JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Disks), but all 4 drives show up and are accessable. Tested on 4 PC's win7, win10, win11, Raspberry PI 5 (single board computer running Linux). [Have not tested in raid, nor have I tested with less than 4 drives at a time.]Drive throughput - Copying 40gb VM from internal drive SSD to blank 8TB hd = writes in the ~180 mb/s which is about the same speed as my other 3.1 USB/HD unit. Copying between 2 drives both inside the MAIWO unit getting ^90 mb/s, which since the data has to travel up/down the same cable this makes sense.The slightly bad:I had to take some sandpaper and clean up the edges of the "handle areas top/bottom" on the case, they were a bit on the sharp side with the weight of 4 drives installed its a bit heavy and you don't want to cut yourself.Smart drive, using 2 different smart drive packages (crystal disk info only the first drive shows up, and its showing a temp of 40c (fans switched to high). To be fair this is within the normal temp of hard drives but its very cold winter weather right now this room is as cold as it ever gets so I'm a bit concerned with potential heat issues in the summer.Trays are tight (this is good) it allows installing drives into trays and then plugging into the backplane. I would greatly caution being very very careful with the plugging in of the drives. Since you are blind plugging in 2 drives at once, If there is any resistance STOP check drive positioning in the trays, you do not want to risk cracking or snapping off the plastic inside the sata connection.I mentioned that all 4 drives show up even on an ARM based Raspberry pi 5 which is running a 64 bit Linux distro. This was a plesant surprise.
