There material is great, seems like they will put up with a lot of abuse. The leg side pockets fit a phone, zippered back pocket. The hand pockets don't zip but they are pretty good for when not riding.But now for some criticism. They only come in S M L XL type sizes and not waist and inseam. Luckily this means that the legs seem to run long rather than short. The fit is ok, but not great. Fit is kind of tighter in the thighs and looser on the calves. Maybe fine for an eMTB or downhill rider, but anyone pedaling is going to have different proportions.Biggest complaint is the lack of an ankle Velcro. The cuffs are wide and floppy and definitely going to get caught in the chainring. A Velcro strap would have easily fixed that.

These are good looking, stretchy, highly functional cycling and hanging out pants. However when I read the description on the CR website , which uses words like "burly", "rugged" and "substantial", I really expected something half way between my goretex / cordura snow sports pants and my CR Gold Rush pants.These are nice, as I said, but they are pretty flimsy. In fact I would rate the Gold Rush pants as being more substantial, and better able to withstand thorns etc. The Fat Jacks seem like they will repel water well, but I can vouch they do let wind in on a 25 degree 20mph Maine day.As far at Fat Jacks being "soft shell", my understanding of a soft shell is a highly weather resistant poly or nylon shell bonded to an insulating fleece layer. I am not a textile expert, I'm not trying to play lawyer ball and parse words ... I am just saying these are nothing like my soft shell jackets.All in all nice pants and I remain a huge fan of Club Ride stuff, I would gladly convert my entire closet. I would just encourage their marketing department not to get too carried away.And buyers, if you plan to use these for fat tire biking in winter conditions, don't be surprised if you find you need to add a layer or two, underneath, on top or both.

Very comfortable for cycling, especially when it is cold out. Pockets are well placed and convenient. I like that they look casual and not like typical lycra pants. Had to have the legs hemmed.

Well made pants that I would like to have kept but was forced to send back. A) at 6' with a 32" waist I went with size M. Fit perfectly around the waist but was short and too tight everywhere else. B) They are sold as fitting over knee-pads but I couldn't wear even a thin pair of pads without having them bunch up above the pads. Was ridiculous to even try riding around the neighborhood.Issue A) is tough for any company because people are different sizes, but given the high cost of these pants (which are imported from China...) they should offer more size variations. For example, a M tall size (?). Issue B) is an easier fix. Either clearly claim these are not to be used over knee pads or enlarge the knee area.

Comfortable pants that work perfect for XC skiing and mountain biking. Size is accurate, could be slightly longer if your tall, I’m 6’4 so don’t read to much into the size. I crashed on my mountain and tore a hole in the knee, would have been nice to have an extra layer of fabric, I like the pants enough to get them fixed.
