Got these to try the +Protein biz. You get Idahoan™ Loaded Baked mashed potatoes, loaded with pulverized cheddar/romano/parmesan cheeses, sour cream, dried onions, chives, spice of some sort, and the usual chemical additives PLUS whey protein concentrate and soy protein that bump up the total protein content to 24 grams per 4.6 oz pouch (6g per 1.15 dry oz serving). Ten pouches/box. Not bad.Taste is the litmus test. It's okay; nothing to write home about but Idahoan is pretty good across the board.Would I buy it again? Probably not. +Protein comes in three flavors only: Loaded Baked, Buttery Homestyle and Roasted Garlic. Idahoan offers these three plus a lot of other great flavors without the added protein at a lower price. I then get my protein by drinking 8 oz of soy milk (7g), 8 oz of real milk (8g), or a delicious 8 oz of El Latino 2% Low Fat Coconut drinkable yogurt sporting a whopping 14g of macho protein PLUS vitamins A & D and probiotics – not to mention adding another important food group.An even more nutritious protein source are fish and seafood because of the Omega-3 fatty acids. They also do away with red meat. Add to that walnuts and spinach and you wave bye-bye to protein concentrates.Nothing against Idahoan, which I consume on a weekly basis. The same holds for other foods like ramen noodles – no special benefit in buying it with added protein. Tried it but will not repeat.Stick to natural foods. It's the natural way to go.

I like these, they are similar to the Nutrisystem loaded potatoes flavor wise but less protein.

I was very excited to try this protein mashed potatoes, which is super easy to make. You simply pour into a boiling temperature water then mix it to turn into mashed potatoes. It literally takes a minute once you have a boiling water. I was a bit disappointed for few reasons. First of all, some of the plastic bags were not sealed tightly so when I opened the box, the mashed potatoes powders were leaking out from the plastic bag. Second of all, the mashed potatoes were a bit too salty for my taste and finally, I didn't like the texture of the mashed potatoes as it wasn't thick enough. I followed the instruction for the water level but perhaps I can use less water to see if that will make it thicker? Either way, I would probably not use this for Thanksgiving dinner or when we have guests over. So, these were a really solid choice for a mostly vegetarian meal that I was afraid wouldn’t be satisfying enough for my family. They lose a star for being very clearly fortified-with-protein-tasting. Given 6 grams per serving I expect it to be more subtle, like protein pastas have perfected.However, the overall taste and texture was good and loaded mashed potatoes with beans in beef flavored gravy was really filling and a hit with the family. My family usually considers one pouch per person to be a serving size, but two pouches provided half the volume of dinner for all of us.

I struggle to get enough protein after gastric sleeve surgery. I get tired of eating the same food all the time. These potatoes were a great side dish to my bbq'd pork steaks. They are creamy and flavorful. I put mushroom gravy over them.
