I have been looking for a good security system for home for months and waiting for Arlo to drop price as well, finally I bought Arlo Pro. The cameras look beautiful, well designed and manufactured. It is super easy to set up, took me 20-30 minutes to set up the base and three cameras including download Arlo APP in my mobile phone. I think the resolution is good enough for normal home security but you can pay more for Arlo Pro 2 for better resolution. A little delay about 2-3 seconds but that is fine for normal monitoring. I have an minor issue about sensitivity, the cameras are very sensitive and can pick up swing trees, bushes etc., I do not want to receive too many alerts because of those natural moving but have not figured it out yet. Easy to set up

Had these set up in about 15 minutes, and had the system up and running in about 30. It's pretty simple, and the online/phone connectivity is great. One thing I learned setting these up: I have a lot of freaking raccoons in my neighborhood. (Turn your phone ringer off at night if you have it set to notify you about movement. A buzz is way less alarming...)

Wireless security cameras are fairly new on the market. This Arlo Pro system is not perfect. It could use some improvement in several areas I will outline in a moment, but to my knowledge, if you are looking for a TRUE wireless system, Arlo makes the best. I would buy it again, and I would also recommend it to somebody who wants wireless.Advantages are: No. 1 would be convenience. Running wires can be problematic, especially if you are trying to run them inside an exterior wall. The console was pretty much plug and play, and synchronizing cameras was easy. I purchased and used the permanent mount attachment vs. the magnetic one so that they would be more secure. All three are outside, one in a tree. No. 2 would be ease of use. The app is easy to figure out and use, and you can view "live" or motion detected videos anywhere you can get a cell or internet connection.I don't think there are many disadvantages. There are some "glitches," items that need to be improved, and they are:1. In the App, setting up schedules is convoluted and confusing. You have to do it in "modes," and it is anything but straight forward. Arlo should create a mode whereby you can enter multiple times in which you want the cameras to come on and off.2. The sensitivity setting is somewhat erroneous. If you set at 100%, you will not necessarily pick up people walking any further back or really improve that at all. BUT you will get more videos of bugs flying in front of your camera! Arlo needs to improve in this area so that sensitivity reaches a further distance back and has a wider range. When I position the camera on the side of my house to get best visibility, I can walk multiple times back and forth and it will never detect motion. So I have to position the camera so it is more forward, but then get too much of the side of my house. The camera in the front faces directly forward, and it will not detect motion until something is about 25 feet in front of it.3. Sometimes motion will trigger a camera recording, but the time it stops recording once it stops detecting motion is too short. Amazingly, a vehicle drives up the driveway, motion is detected, but by the time the person gets out of the vehicle, Arlo has stopped recording, so there is no video of them walking up the driveway, and then Arlo detects motion on their way back, so you get a recording of the back of their head. Well, that's helpful! Arlo needs to allow the customer to set the time they want the recording to continue after the camera STOPS detecting motion. I would want at least 15, maybe 20 seconds. I have far too many videos of vehicles pulling in and people walking away.4. Picture quality is average. If you need to zoom in the photo/video, it will pixilate. Thus, when a vehicle drives up, since the recording stops early and you do not get the individual getting out of their vehicle and walking toward the house, you will get the license plate number to provide law enforcement; right? NOT. The best I have been able to do is get a partial.5. Sound. This is a big one. I give sound one star because, first, while I think it picks sound up pretty good (I mean, I can hear my neighbors laughing in their backyard), the sound quality is only good for the first couple seconds, and then it is buffering, so what you hear is half second snippets and it's mostly worthless. As far as speaking through you phone so that you can speak through each camera, this is something that is possible, and it works okay for the first few seconds - IF you put the camera to your ear. So, I have mine located above ground, and if I talk through any of them, you might be able to hear a sound, but you won't know what it is. Although, I did have a bird land on one, so I started screaming at it, and I think it left. Bird probably freaked out. Arlo needs to totally revamp this feature so that it is useful. I understand Ring has it figured out, so if Ring can do it, Arlo, how about it?6. Alarm. If you hit the Alarm toggle on your phone, an alarm will sound on the console inside your house. That might be helpful once they have broken into your home, but I kinda wanted to have this to prevent the dirtbags from gaining entry. Arlo should allow the ability to set off the alarm right at the camera. If somebody is lurking around, before they break the window, I'd like to toggle an alarm at the camera closest to them. Most will scare off rather risk getting caught.I think the technology for wireless security cameras has a ways to go. I imagine it will improve. I purchased this system because I didn't want to run wires inside exterior walls and possibly have to open the wall and drill through a fireblock. If you don't mind running wires or can run them down an interior wall, I think a wired system would be more functional. However, if you want wireless, this Arlo Pro system is doing the job as a good, basic security camera system. I have a camera up in a tree that catches the entire back side of my house. Doing that wire a wire system would be awkward. You have more versatility with wireless. Keep in mind, if you lose power and do not have a backup, well, you lose your system as well.

This is a fantastic and very cost effective camera system.We purchased this for our business after trying several other "modern" camera systems.The most powerful feature of these products is they are completely wireless. This is a huge plus because running a ton of wire for cameras can be expensive, time consuming and just annoying. I love that we can easily move the cameras around if needed!The battery life is incredible. We have 4 cameras total, installed them all Aug of 2017 and we have about 1/3 battery left in all of them. I expect we'll be able to get 6-7 months before we have to charge them. Since there are no wires, pulling them down to charge will be no problem!They are durable little cameras. We have one mounted outside. We are in Canada. It was -30 this week and the camera worked without any issues. It get rained and snowed on constantly. No issues at all (we did put a black silicon cover on the exterior one, mostly to make it less noticeable, so this could help with the elements)Image quality is great. Videos are very clear.Interface is very easy to use, files go to a cloud service (which is free or pay for more data, etc)This is really where the system shines. Other systems have internal recording or network recording. This is all clunky and unreliable.The ONLY complaint I have about this system is that the geofencing does not work very well at all. We have 4 phones fenced to the system and the fencing constantly breaks, has to be re-set, etc. We just stopped using it all together and set a schedule with the system because it was getting very annoying getting notifications when nothing bad was happening. It would be great if they could patch some firmware to improve this feature.

Fell in love with the wireless camera concept and the first generation of the Arlo system. When we found out they upgraded a few things including rechargeable batteries as well as two way voice connections, it was a must have. The battery life all depends on your video quality, environmental setting (temperature outside), settings for duration of recordings, and how often it records (how often the motion sensors are triggered). These are all settings you have full control over once you've set everything up and running. We've seen about an average of 1 month of battery life for our main entrance camera, which is expected because of the high foot traffic that one usually sees. Our rear camera is still on its first charge cycle from when we set it up and it's been a little over three months. The voice feature has a slight delay (about 3 seconds) from when you speak to when that message is relayed and output sound through the camera, not a huge setback but just something to get accustomed to (I'm guessing it really depends on your inter connection speed at home). The base for this has to be wired connected to an Internet source (router) at all times. In case of a power outage or internet outage, this system will go offline and will be inoperable, so if you're in an area where it seems like those two occurrences are often, just keep that in mind. All in all a great product that's easy to set up and just a little added security and reassurance that your home is under surveillance at all times.
