One week in, the master code stopped working and we are completely locked out of the house. Emtek did nothing. It’s luckily our pool house so not totally disastrous. There is no manual key on this thing so if it goes on the fritz you’re screwed. If you do buy this, make sure you have other points of access in case it stops working. But really this is just idiotic to make such a thing, a deadbolt that totally relies on technology. We didn’t think about it til it was too late.

This had the sleek looks we wanted for being fitted to a modern door. The interior lock mechanism was smaller than other keypad operated smart locks we evaluated. Programming codes was fidgety but very doable. Battery drain seems a little high but still acceptable. Wish list is to be able to manage codes from August smart phone app, direct zwave integration, and it'd be very cool if they could keep it as small as it is and also incorporate a video doorbell.

I debated 5 vs 4. Once installed an running correctly it’s a great product as is the app. That said it was very, very time consuming to install. The door and latch opening had the be PERFECT or it won’t work. I had to make several modifications to the door and the latch. From there it took a while to figure out how to get linked to the app. The instructions are pretty terrible. I found a You Tube video to help me connect. Now that it’s up and running it’s great.
