We needed a smart lock for our new VRBO vacation rental. I looked at a lot of smart locks and needed one with a lever because our door does not have a dead bolt. So far this lock has worked flawlessly. I had a few problems with the install but a quick call to the Yale customer service line resolved my issues in just a few minutes. The Yale app is user friendly and has worked great so far. We set codes for our incoming guests, for a temporary time period. No issues so far. Very happy!

Well constructed lock or decent quality, but the software is horrible and the lock does not pair to Apple Homekit as it claims, due to the terrible app.

This lock does exactly what I needed. I can set a code to always work, assign codes for temporary date access and I can assign codes from a remote location all through the August App. It took a while to get the wifi to connect. The connect device needs to be plugged in to an outlet close to the door and within 10 feet of your modem. The modem can be in an adjacent room, but there can't be a wall between the connect device and the modem. Had to call customer service to figure that out, but once the connection was made it works great.

I’m a pretty handy guy and can tackle plumbing, electrical, hardware with no problem. This was a train wreck. The instructions are just pictures and the video on their YouTube channel instructs you to connect the interior locking plate and exterior with two long screws - they’re 3” and far too long to correctly work. The black M42 screws inside are what you should use. However, these cannot be tightened enough to make the lock assembly not wobble on the door frame. That’s right, the whole thing just wobbles side to side. The exterior handle would not under any circumstances install correctly. It wouldn’t go on. When taking everything apart, the screws included strip with only hand force and the barrel they feed into will come completely unscrewed because it’s not properly soldered in place, just screwed in. So you feed a screw into a screw and miracle of miracles they both thread out. Thinking of calling Yale customer service? Don’t. A very friendly overseas call center has no technical advice when you hit 3 for technical support and instead want you to email your name, address, proof of purchase, and photos of the issue to them and they’ll replace it in 10 business days. This is badly designed and badly supported.

We have been using it for our AirBnB for the past 10 months. Great to easily assign remote codes for each guest. I do really dislike that you can’t set it to lock x seconds after it is unlocked so that it auto locks. Also wish that the keypad would stay active for a few more seconds before timing out. Older users (like myself) sometimes need an extra few seconds to enter the entire code and then hit the Yale button after entering combo

I have had the personal experience of just over two years of successful use of this lock. I enjoyed it throughout that time. Then suddenly my unit suffered from the X of doom (1,3,5,7,9 blinking). At approx. 2.25 years the unit suddenly died. After trying to troubleshoot it for a few months, eventually the support folks at Yale said sorry, but you are out of warranty. The internals had some malfunction that I can not identify. Since they cannot stand behind their product for a reasonable lifecycle (we are talking about a door handle here), I would think twice about this item. I gave it 2 stars because it was good, until it died prematurely.
