As somebody who used to use and love the Microsoft Trackball Explorer (I went through 4 or 5 of them before they went out of production and became too expensive), this Porlei trackball is great! The form factor is comfortable, the roll is smooth (no stiction at all on the one I received), and the button layout is good.I paid $23 for this and it was well worth it. I've only had it for about three months at this point, but so far it's held up well; no build quality issues that I've noticedI see that the price has increased by about $6, but honestly, I'm surprised it hasn't gone up more. This is a quality item as far as I can tell. I've been using trackballs for decades, and this is one of the better ones.I've run the gamut of right-handed, finger-operated Elecom trackballs (Deft, Deft Pro, and HUGE), and those are all inferior to this in terms of comfort and smoothness. Elecom units always need bearings changed or a new ball to work properly. This Porlei unit worked immediately without any annoyances or issues. It was honestly a huge surprise to try a brand I had never heard of at such a low price point and find that it is a superior product. To be fair, I haven't tried direct competitors like the Sanwa Gravi or the Protoarc EM03, so it's possible that they may be equally as good, but I don't feel a need to try them anymore since this unit is so surprisingly good.I may have to order a couple more just to have in reserve for the future.

CHEER! Here is the second best marble mouse ever made! You cant buy the best one because its gone forever.(sadness) So here you go. Fits large hands. works for derpy lumberjacks and hamfisted factory handed people that crush walnuts in their bare hands and eat the shells throwing the nut away! Its TRUE!The scroll wheel is perfect! And scrolls...scrolly scroll's. And away we go!The Right and Left buttons are well placed and click like the clickiest click thats ever clicked before! (I tell ya!)The mouse ball spins freely even when whipped into submission by an angry pointer finger ball spinner.Spin ball spinnnnn! As I strafe around you in a tight 360 degree circle just ahead of your aim and taunting you.Yup folks , its a spinner! If you game, this is a secret weapon once mastered. Its great for ranged...work. :) BOOM!

Great item

Works well

Looks similar to the legendary microsoft trackball explorer (MTE), but not quite the same. The Sanwa Gravi and the Ploopy classic would be closer to the MTE.Slightly finer/more granular DPI settings would be helpful as my ideal would be between two of presets.Bonus points for wired in a wireless world, very reliable. Not so great is that the trackball continues to draw power when my desktop goes into suspend so that the red optical sensor light remains lit even if the computer is suspended. For less than CAD20 it is high value with not a lot of bells and whistles, but pretty decent entry if you want to try a trackball out without dropping a lot of money on one.

Function, features and price are all positive...but there's ONE thing that if I would have known, maybe would have made me pass on this device - the finish has that "soft touch" paint on it, like was common on a lot of early 00s electronics like game controllers and cheap mp3 players...you know, that finish that's velvety smooth, almost fur-soft despite still being ridged plastic. Well, that pleasant tactile feeling is great when it's brand new, but it eventually it wears off and starts breaking down, turning into an unusable sticky mess. So I would only recommend this for short term use. If you expect it use it for years and years, you probably want to choose something else (this is replacing a Kensington trackball that is probably two decades old, so yes, I expect to use it until it's obsolete). If not for this poor design choice, I could give this 5 stars. Please manufacturers, stop using this crap paint/texture treatment. There's good reason it fell out of fashion.Amazon also seems to have a lot of difficultly getting stuff to people on time these days. Consider purchasing from a different marketplace so that maybe they will become motivated to return to the good customer service they built this empire on.

UPDATE: I have raised my rating to 5 stars. After further use/adjustment, I found that by working with the resolution switch underneath the trackball and the PC settings, I was able to achieve a good balance between cursor speed and accuracy. Additionally, with further use, the scroll wheel has been a valuable addition. All other positives noted in my 1st review below still apply. I may purchase a 2nd unit if I continue to be pleased with the performance.1st Review: Overall decent design, but still no replacement for the fabulous Logitech that served me for 8 years. Biggest issue is that I have to set the cursor speed to max and it is still a bit too slow. And the scroll wheel is somewhat in the way, but perhaps due to not being used to having the wheel. Texture of device is good, and it rolls effortlessly so far.

Very Precise, Non-Moving Mouse
2026-01-03    -Giraffe

The media could not be loaded. Although I have a fully kitted out office in the basement of my home, I find I do the majority of my work at the breakfast bar in my kitchen. I sit at the end of the counter’s peninsula, and due to the placement of the sink, and my various pens, washi tape and other supplies for my daily hand-printed journaling, I only have a very small space between the right side of my laptop and the end of the peninsula. My absolute preference is a wireless mouse. I have one in my office, and I have had two on the kitchen counter. However, both in the kitchen have fallen off the counter so many times that both finally broke, so I gave up on using those. I went and rummaged around in my “computer junk drawer” and found what must be a 20-year-old wired mouse. I have been using this mouse for the past 5 months or so in the kitchen, but now the wheel/scroller is starting to squeak quite loudly, and I’m worried that it will soon stop working.I have never been a fan of the track pads on laptops, and refuse to use them, so I thought I had better order a replacement mouse. Several years ago, as part of an ergonomic assessment, it was recommended that I should get a mouse like the one in this review, but I never did.It comes packaged in a box and is wrapped in thin packing foam. The first thing I noticed is that it is huge! When compared to a standard size mouse (see photo), you can really appreciate the difference. However, it has silicone “feet” on the bottom (see photo) that almost glue it in place on the countertop, so it doesn’t move at all. I really appreciate this, as the old, wired mouse, and the wireless mice, forced me to move my arm over the very narrow counter real estate on the right of the computer. Now I don’t have to move my arm at all. When I plugged it into the USB A port on my laptop, it didn’t plug all the way in and is loose. I took a video of this to show that it is not secure in the port. I don’t know how this will fare in the long term. There is also a U-shaped piece of plastic on the USB A plug. I don’t know what the purpose of this is.This mouse does take some getting used to. The track ball is extremely sensitive, and it is taking me some time to adjust to that as it is much more precise with much less movement than a standard mouse. The right click button is large and is on the right-hand side of the mouse. On the left-hand side, going from top to bottom, there are two buttons that don’t do anything, but I must research how to customize the functionality as the Amazon listing said this was possible. For example, I’d like to make one “cut” and the other one “paste”.Below those two buttons is the wheel/scrolling mechanism, and finally, below that, is the click to select where the curser is.
