This is a review of three products I used together to make some speaker wire.12-gauge OFC speaker wire – ASIN: B0758CSSDN9mm to dual 3.5mm cable pants - ASIN: B092M44QRK12-gauge banana plugs – ASIN: B01MQHBQXFThe speaker cable is roughly round, with a diameter between 8mm and 9mm depending on how you measure it. The cable contains two loosely twisted 12-gauge wires that measure 3.5mm each before you strip them.The 3.5mm cable is a very tight fit into the cable pants. Stripping a good amount of the 3.5mm cable makes it much easier to fit it into the cable pants. The 8.5mm average diameter of speaker cable fit nicely into the cable pants seat resulting in a clean look.The banana plugs worked very nicely as well. They fit perfectly around the 12-gauge wire and sit nicely onto the end of the pants, also resulting in a clean look.If you are looking for comments on the sound – I didn’t hear any difference between these and the cheap 18-gauge bare ended speaker wire they are replacing, but they sure do feel nicer and look better.

As a few others here mentioned, I tried the Amazon 12 gauge cable and it didn't work well with it. The sheathing on the red and black of the amazon cable is a bit thicker than others it seems.I tried some other speaker cable that I had that is 12 gauge and it worked OK.I could get it to work like another did where they stripped the sheathing on the cable and pulled the bare wire through and also pushed. It worked and took some time but it worked.

This is a good product, howvever be aware that another review states that these 9mm-2x 3.5mm cable pants work with "Amazon Basics 12-gauge OFC speaker wire, ASIN: B0758CSSDN". I am telling you this was NOT the case for me as of December 2023. The outer cable sheath DOES fit the pants correctly, but the inner 12 gauge wires have a VERY TIGHT FIT in the legs of the pants. You can insert a 12 gauge wire in slightly, maybe 1/8 inch, but there is NO WAY you will get the 12 gauge wire through the whole length of the leg. Even with cable lube this was not workable. See my photos.I had no problem using these pants with an older and different brand of round speaker wire, but it was smaller in diameter in both the outer sheath and inner wire sizes.This is a good product and I would use it again, but it will only work with certain sizes of wire. I wish this came in other colors, or in a variety pack so one could easily figure out which sizes work with which cabling.

I used these cable pants to construct some custom length speaker wires using the Amazon Basics 12-Gauge speaker wire (ASIN B0758CSSDN) and Amazon Basics banana plugs (ASIN B01MXJIEV9).An earlier review stated that the cable was too big to fit in the cable pants. It is a tight fit, but I found a pretty simple way to assemble these and though I would share.You just need to strip enough insulation so that the bare copper can be fed through the length of the cable pants. You can then pull on the copper while pushing the cable pants down on to the insulated wire. I made a template to strip the correct length each time and was able to make 10 sets of cables pretty quickly.

I ordered the 9mm wow pants for Amazon Basic 12AWG wire and the wire would NOT fit through the legs portion of the pants. I ended up returning them and ordered the 10mm pants which did work for my application.
