I got the Sony mount version of this flash and wasn't really sure what to expect in terms of light quality, functionality etc.It's well made - feels sturdy and long lasting - and it's a powerful flash. The lcd screen on the back is crystal clear - even without my glasses I can read everything. There is quite a bit to learn in the menu system, but that's the same on other high end flashes.My first tests involved using it on TTL mode on my A7iV. I had it on the hotshoe foot mount thing and bounced it into a wall corner in my living room (white ceiling).I made no changes to the flash settings (other than wireless channel etc.) and I got absolutely flawless exposure for ambient and the flash. I really didn't expect it to be that accurate.I can see this would be super easy to use for events and parties, especially if you have a suitable bounce surface. I don't use direct flash myself and it would be harsh like every other direct flash, but with bounce and perhaps the subflash you'd get great results.Colour was fantastic too. I got great skin tones using the bounce flash and beautiful soft, even lighting.This is a solid flash, so there is some weight to it of course, but if you're using it on a stand that won't matter.You can use it as a controller for other Godox flashes or as a received where it's controlled by another flash or a trigger, so there's a lot of flexibility here.I'm not sure that I love charging the battery directly into the USB-C port on the top of the battery. I'm old school and still prefer some kind of charger, but with this at least you're not going to lose a separate charger!It has a lot of power and knowing Godox (I have several of their V860ii models) the other camera make fittings will work just as well.One thing that is nice about Godox is that if you use this flash off camera you can use it with other camera make Godox triggers. So for example if you have a Godox Canon trigger this flash will behave like a Canon flash off camera. That's great if you ever change your camera - you just need a trigger - or if you have multiple camera systems, as I do.You get a nice case of course with a little side pocket where you can store the sub flash. I don't know if I'll use that very much, but for putting a pop of light into the eyes it should come in handy.Any negatives? I suppose I could nitpick that you have to rotate the little dial after holding down the power button for 3 seconds, but that's hardly a big deal. I do prefer a normal on/off switch, but it's hardly the end of the world to do it the way this flash works.I'd also say you do need to give yourself time to learn the menu system. With so many features, including HSS, it will take a while to learn to get the best out of the flash. Having said that I used it with default settings (other than wireless channel, which I had to change) and it gave me gorgeous result.
